A group of Nashville musicians are headed to the White House-but most of them are not Music Row professionals.
The W.O. Smith School gives music lessons to low-income children. Forty of its students will travel to Washington, DC for a celebration of Country Music hosted by the President and First Lady. The event is the second in a series of concerts and educational workshops on the topic of American music. Along with children from other parts of the country, the W.O. Smith students will learn about songwriting and be in the audience as Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss and Union Station perform.
The trip will be documented in a hour-long television special on Great American Country.
