Tennessee’s newest automaker is having its best year in company history. Volkswagen is reporting more than four million vehicles sold in the first half of this year. And last month, sales increased nearly 12 percent over the same period in 2010.
A statement from VW calls the performance “very satisfactory.”
Board member for Sales Christian Klinger says success in the second half of the year “won’t be automatic.”
The U.S. still makes up less than 10 percent of VW’s sales, but a new plant in Chattanooga is meant to help increase American deliveries.
