Senate Republicans Reelect Leadership

Senate Republicans in the state legislature reelected almost all of their current leadership today, including Ron Ramsey as the Senate Speaker.

There were no contested positions, but Caucus Secretary Jamie Woodson handed off her post to Brentwood Senator Jack Johnson. When they return to Nashville in January, the Senate Democrats and Republicans will elect a Speaker, who parcels out committee assignments. With the Republicans now holding 19 seats to the Democrats’ 14, Ramsey is expected to keep the position of Senate Speaker.

The Senate Republicans elected:

Speaker: Ron Ramsey.

Majority Leader: Mark Norris.

Floor Leader: Bill Ketron.

Treasurer: Mae Beavers.

Secretary: Jack Johnson.

Chaplain: Steve Southerland.
