A consultant to Clarksville’s Electric Department has been convicted of bribing an official.
A federal jury found Tommy Walton guilty on 16 counts of fraud. He allegedly paid 51-thousand dollars directly to the utility’s president and his creditors. The payments were hidden from the city’s electric power board and its employees, which the US District Attorney argued was a sign that the money was a bribe or kickback.
The man who received the money, Rick Ingram, pleaded guilty last May.
Sentencing hearings have yet to be scheduled for either man. Each could face up to twenty years in prison, plus fines and restitution.
