Leaf Hello
Nissan is searching for a universal greeting that can be exchanged by owners of its all-electric car that will soon be built in Smyrna. Like drivers of Jeep Wranglers or Chevy Corvettes waving at each other, Nissan wants suggestions for an official Leaf “wave.”
Franklin-based Nissan proposes a traditional five-fingered wave, a peace sign or a zero, to symbolize zero emissions.
Vernon Roberts of Antioch is having his electric car charger installed this week and expects to pick up his Leaf next month. He says he’ll probably just honk like mad when he sees another Leaf on the road.
“It’s exciting when you see one, but there’s just not that many. It’s like a unicorn or something. You just don’t see them.”
Nissan will continue to take suggestions for the official Leaf wave through Thursday on the car’s Facebook page.
