The Great Smoky Mountains National Park will represent Tennessee in an upcoming series of quarters depicting national sites.
Earlier this year Governor Phil Bredesen voiced that preference to the U.S. Mint, and today he announced that request got the nod, noting this year marks the 75th anniversary of the park’s dedication.
The state’s quarter has not yet been designed, and is due out in 2014.
