The Nashville Symphony is headed to Carnegie Hall at the invitation of a new, national music festival. The orchestra is one of just six ensembles chosen for the 2012 Spring for Music Festival.
The festival’s goal is to feature new music that isn’t performed very often. Nashville Symphony Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero says that’s good fit for the orchestra.
“Nashville symphony is synonymous with our championing of American composers. We of course do everything, but we pay special attention to the living composers-American, living composers.”
Another Nashvillian, electric violinist Tracy Silverman, will join the Nashville Symphony for the festival’s finale performance. While the program hasn’t been announced yet, it will include at least one brand new piece commissioned with Silverman in mind.
