The city of Nashville has been selected to host the National Folk Festival for the next three years. Starting in 2011, the free weekend event will take place on several downtown stages, and feature everything from bluegrass to salsa to middle-eastern music.
Organizers expect the event to draw a crowd of some 80 thousand in its first year, and nearly double that by its third and final year here in 2013, which will also mark the festival’s 75th anniversary.
Organizers haven’t yet set specific dates, saying first they’ll analyze local weather patterns from years past.
