Nashville Congressman Jim Cooper says the House of Representatives can’t wait until next month to reconvene. He and three colleagues have sent letters to Speaker John Boehner and Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi asking them to call Congress back in session.
Cooper calls the S&P downgrade of America’s debt a “serious embarrassment.” He says the debt ceiling deal didn’t do enough to instill confidence in the country’s ability to manage it’s long-term debt. Cooper concludes Congress “can’t afford to wait until September to get back to work.”
