Metro’s Health Department ran out of swine flu shots last week-
(sound from Metro Health H1N1 hotline) “We are currently out of H1N1 injectible vaccine…”
-but shots to protect against the disease are still available at most midstate health departments, and more should come soon to Nashville.
Every day, the state may order a limited number of vaccine doses, depending on how many the manufacturers have made. Each time, it orders the maximum.
Health Commissioner Susan Cooper says the time between ordering and delivery has shrunk to just a few days. So far, she says there’s a steady incoming flow for the state as a whole.
“We wish we had more vaccine, we wish it would get here sooner, but we’re getting it out immediately, so you know, two to three days from the time the order is placed is really a fantastic turnaround.”
To date, Cooper says the state has ordered 240-thousand doses of the H1N1 vaccine.
The state maintains an online list of health departments that have doses available. The list is updated daily.
