The man charged with bringing businesses to the Tennessee says some gubernatorial candidates have shown an interest in continuing to woo clean energy firms.
Matt Kisber is the Commissioner of Economic and Community Development. Speaking last week to a Green Business Summit at Lipscomb University, Kisber told the audience he’s seen signs that several men running for the governor’s office may share his desire to make Tennessee the go-to state for green energy companies.
“I’ve had the privilege of sitting down with some of the candidates on both sides who have come and said, ‘we want to know more of what you’re doing and how that fits into a strategy that, should I be elected, I need to be able to execute upon.’”
Kisber says his department is already preparing to hand off its work to the next administration. Once out of office, he says both he and Governor Bredesen plan to stay in Nashville and advocate for clean energy in the area.
