Nashville has its first inventory of green house gas emissions. The three month study funded by Nashville Electric Service gives the city a baseline to measure future attempts to lower emissions.
After studying transportation and utility use, Nashville fares slightly better than the state and slightly worse than the country on tons of carbon dioxide emitted per capita. Each person produces 23.9 tons of CO2 annually. More than 62 percent of the pollutants come from commercial and residential buildings in the form of power use.
