Fundraising numbers are due for all Metro candidates today. But those totals will not reflect all of the money the mayoral candidates have spent on television advertising in the last week.
Howard Gentry was the latest to purchase airtime with his first ad to air Thursday. He’ll run four ads that address growth, bringing together different political parties, and education.
Gentry’s ad buy cost 65,000 thousand dollars that will start on cable and move to local channels next week. David Briley, Karl Dean and Bob Clement also purchased airtime last week. Buck Dozier’s campaign says he’ll be up on the air with new ads on Thursday.
Second quarter fundraising results are due today. Neither Briley, nor Dean nor Gentry’s campaigns would reveal their totals in advance. But Clement and Dozier’s campaigns did. Clement’s raised over 1.25 million dollars to date while Dozier has raised a half a million so far.
Early voting starts Friday for the August second election.
**For this story, WPLN incorrectly reported the date of the election as August third. We regret the error.**
