A soldier with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell died Monday in Afghanistan.
Private First Class Christopher Barton was from Concord, North Carolina. He was killed when insurgents attacked his unit with small-arms fire.
Barton was 22 years old. He’s survived by his mother and his wife, Heather.
He is the sixth soldier from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team to die in Afghanistan since the beginning of March.
