First Lady Andrea Conte made her final fundraising push Thursday before opening a new underground meeting space at the newly renovated Governor’s Residence. She held a $250-a-plate luncheon on the mansion’s grounds.
Conte hoped to raise another $400,000 to pay for landscaping and a new gate for the entrance. She says that would take the total private funds to $9 million for the renovation – roughly half of the $18 million project. The largest expense was the underground meeting space called Conservation Hall.
The first post-renovation event is a “teacher of the year” dinner November 5th.
