With home sales that average less than half the going price of other places in Williamson County’s vaunted school system, and new access via State Route 840, Fairview is one of several spots observers are watching for rapid growth in the Nashville area. Image credit Google.com/maps
A new stretch of State Route 840 that opened last fall looks poised to deliver a growth spurt in a relatively affordable part of wealthy Williamson County: the small town of Fairview, southwest of Nashville.
The housing sector is hot throughout the Nashville area, and home sales in popular parts of Williamson County average well above $400,000. Fairview, by contrast, runs less than half that, and may be still down a bit since the recession.
Since the town is part of Williamson County’s sought-after school district, Fairview Mayor Beverly Totty is hopeful the wealth will flow west along the new highway.
“We average about a hundred listings in our area of Fairview – 37062 zip code. Out of those hundred, there’s about 45 under contract. So that’s almost a 50 percent sold market, which is insane.”
Realtors watching the area say that’s not an embellishment, noting sales are double compared to this time last year, as in a few other places around Middle Tennessee. And there’s one other sign growth is on the way: a new Wal-Mart is opening, banking not just on the families in Fairview, but the ones that are going to be there.
