Tomorrow the state’s Mobile Disaster Information Center will be in Nashville to help Hurricane Katrina and Rita evacuees apply for federal and state assistance programs.
FEMA Community Relations Officer Rod Handley says the event will offer connections to a laundry list of services:
“There’s benefits in long term housing, education, getting their kids into school, unemployment, job training, medical benefits,
housing, food stamps, immediate need kind of things in addition to long-term.”
Handley says representatives from a number of government agencies and the Red Cross will be on hand to answer questions. The Mobile Information Center will be open at the Nashville Area Red Cross headquarters on Charlotte Avenue tomorrow from 9am to 6pm.
