An East Nashville group delivered its petition today for the recall of a Metro Councilmember. Petitioners say District 5 representative Pam Murray is hard to get ahold of because she works in Michigan.
The petitioners say they have over 1250 signatures. They need 983 from confirmed voters in the district to trigger a recall election.
Nashville lawyer Jamie Hollin is leading the push to replace Murray. He says she’s failed to properly represent her constituents, calling her “unresponsive.”
“She has chosen her job over her constituents – which is fine to make. And you just need to remove yourself from office if that’s the decision you’re going to make.”
Last week Murray told the Tennessean she works in Detroit just a few days each month. She says she does the rest of her work developing drug addiction treatment online, and doesn’t miss council meetings due to her job.

Election Commissioner Ray Barrett says it will take a couple of days to verify the signatures on the petition. If enough are valid, Murray would face an election in November. Potential opponents would have to file to run against Murray soon – possibly by the end of this month.
