Tennessee Senator Bob Corker will not vote to confirm Sonia Sotomayor when her Supreme Court nomination goes before the full Senate.
In a statement released Wednesday, Corker called Judge Sotomayor’s background impressive. But he says her record and past statements show that she –quote-“views the Supreme Court as…a policy-making body where laws are shaped based on the personal views of the justices.”
The vote is expected to be closely divided along partisan lines. But with Democrats in charge of the Senate and the support of a few Republicans, Sotomayor will likely be promoted to the high court.
