Supporters of the Parthenon and Nashville’s Centennial Park are collecting memories and photos as part of an online history project.
John Seigenthaler, founder of the First Amendment Center, will host a round table discussion about the park’s history Thursday night. He plans to share his own stories of growing up near the West End landmark.
“They will include moments of controversy in the park – the day they closed the swimming pool down where I learned to swim because it was obvious black kids were going to swim there.”
Others moments are more lighthearted, like when Seigenthaler first met his wife in the park’s band shell.
