One Metro Council member says thousands of dollars could be saved by thinning Metro’s fleet of vehicles.
Megan Barry is an at-large member running for reelection. She says it makes sense to only keep cars that are used regularly, like police cruisers. She says those that are just needed once in a while should be eliminated.
“There is no need for us to have maintenance responsibility for keeping a vehicle around that’s being driven a couple hundred miles a year.”
Barry wants a “thorough review” of Metro’s fleet policies. She says she’d recommend employees be reimbursed for using their own cars.
